Congratulations to the XC teamsnon their performances at Med. Valley Invite this morning. Boys team placed 1st. Individual results: Cade Hayes - 2nd; Jonah Fisher - 3rd; Diego Rodriguez - 9th. Ashlynn Edgren finished 11th. Wyatt Warning 9th, and Paisley Brown 8th in the JH division.

History comes to life! Students made authentic Civil War-era hard tack in American History class today. Hard tack was a dried biscuit that Civil War soldiers carried with them to eat while away at battle.

The Geometry students are working on constructing circumscribed and inscribed triangles to understand the perpendicular bisector and angle bisector theorems. Feel free to hang their constructions on the refrigerator 😁

We are having a great day with our new teachers and mentors. Thank you Bill Ford for speaking this morning & giving all of us a history lesson on our awesome community and what makes it so special. Thank you Dave Ford for driving all of us around town/on a bus route so our new teachers (and some veterans) got a feel for what our drivers do everyday to get our kids to school safely. The Bertrand Board of Education will hold a Working Meeting to discuss district goals and progress on August 5th at 4:00 PM at the Johnson Lake Country Club in Elwood, NE. No action will be taken on any discussion items. Meeting is open to the public.

Phelps Memorial Therapy Center will once again be doing the baseline concussion testing and ACL screening for Bertrand High School student athletes. This will be done Tuesday, Aug. 5th at 7:30 a.m. in the old gym. Students will go through the Sway Medical Concussion Testing app to get a baseline established for the upcoming school year; they will need a phone/device to complete the test with the app. All Bertrand students grades 7th – 12th are asked to attend as everyone will need to have the concussion baseline established in order to participate in activities. If you have any questions, please contact the school office, or Mr. Newcomb.

9-12 Graders...classes are filling up fast! Make a plan to come to the school Wednesday, Thursday, or Monday to meet with the Counselor to pick your classes. Schedule changes may not be an option once school starts if classes are full. #GoVikings

Marcus Hernandez will be representing Bertrand in the Nebraska Coaches Association All-Star Basketball Game to be played on Wednesday, July 23rd at Lincoln North Star High School; tip-off is at 8:00 Central. The game will be streamed live on nebraskapublicmedia.org, as well as the Nebraska Public Media app, and will be broadcast on NE-W (NET World). Congratulations Marcus!! GO VIKINGS!!!

The east gym and weight room will be closed starting Tuesday morning, July 22nd through Sunday, August 3rd, while the gym floor is being resealed, and the weight room will be deep cleaned to prepare it for the start of school. The weight room will reopen Monday, August 4th.
