Despite the hard-fought efforts of the Viking Football Team last Friday night versus a highly tauted opponent, some missed opportunities and few mistakes cost them a victory.  Even though Dundy County had 4 turnovers in the game to aid the Vikings' effort, Bertrand was unable to come away with the victory, losing 28-20.  Bertrand’s first touchdown came early in the game after a Tiger turnover. Owen Brown scored on a 3-yard run to give the Vikings the early lead. However, Dundy County bounced right back with a kickoff return for a touchdown to take a 8-6 lead. The Tigers scored again but the Vikings marched down the field and capped off the drive with a Jarett Bieker 2-yard run, and a 2 point conversion from Owen Kaps to Joe Pelton. The Halftime score was Dundy County 16 Bertrand 14.

The third quarter did not fair well for the Vikings. A few penalties and a turnover hurt the Viking's cause. Despite this, Dundy County scored only once in the third quarter to take a 22-14 lead going into the 4th quarter. The Tigers scored again in the 4thbto take a 28-14 lead. The Vikings came right back and scored with 2:41 left in the game on a Owen Kaps 1 yd run. The Vikings tried to get an onside kick but Dundy County recovered the ball. The Vikings were out of timeouts and could not stop Dundy County and they were able to run out the clock winning the game 28-20. Bertrand will travel to Ravenna Friday and play a 7 pm game.
